Latest News from the 2008 Championship
Silverstone Marks the end of the Season
The final race of the season took place on the 5th of October, with Lee Sullivan walking away with the 2008 Champions cup for both class B and overall champion trophies.

The final two championship rounds saw a combined grid of all classes, which by all accounts proved very popular and made for exciting racing. It was especially interesting to see how the old classes mixed with the new and how the ZRs faired against the MGFs.
All in all 2008 was an exciting year despite the obvious impacts of financial contraints. I have no doubt though that 2009 will be an excellent year.

Lee Sullivan Secures the 2008 Championship at Cadwell
Lee Sullivan secured the Class B and overall MGOC Championship on 251 points ahead of Class F winner Stuart Plotnek on 229 points and Will Sharpe in Class A on 222 points.
With just one race remaining at Silverstone second and third places are still as yet undecided with two excellent drivers Plotnek and Sharpe left to fight it out. However, if Will fails to finish then the charging Gary Smith and former MGOC Champion could take overall third place.
All our congratulations go to Lee who fought a hard season and as one of the true gents on the race track is a well deserved champion.

2008 Championship Gets underway at Silverstone
The 2008 Championship finally got off to a cold and not without incident start at Silverstone. A somewhat reduce grid in all classes saw the usual action from class B&Z and some typical close action from class F drivers Plotnek, Evans, Naish, Deaves and Savage.
In class B fastest lap and a deserved win went to Stratton MacKay who for a numbers of years has been plagued by the Silverstone gremlins. Class Z success when to Gary Smith with a near five second lead over Simon Byrne.

MacKay finally leaves his gremlins at home with a deserved Class B win.
Class A saw the usual dominence of Jim Baynam forced into second in qualifying by William Sharpe who made his debut in Class A having swapped over from Class B and went on to win leaving Jim in second but only by a margin of 0.8 of a second. Class F had the familiar trio of Plotnek, Evans and Deaves lining up in positions 1, 2 and 3 for the start. Evans failed to make the race leaving Deaves, Naish and Plotnek to fight it out. Deaves crossed the line first having built up a ten second over the quick Paul Naish and Plotnek resigned to picking up third place.
